Talking about his journey from Hapur to Havard University he added that he still remembers his initial days of learning at Hapur on slate and chalk and considers it to be most learning and influential phase of his life. He still considers his childhood teachers to be the best one and added that the role of teacher is to build the capability and capacity of his student.

During his discussion with the students he added that there is no substitute for hard work and he still remembers during his internship period in engineering how he worked in 2 shifts to learn maximum. He further added success and development is progressive and is a continuous journey so one has to keep learning. He shared a 3 point principle with the student, select 3 focus area in your life and put 2/3 of your time in achieving the same. Focusing on the role of communication for managers he added that for achieving success in life one has to be a very good listener and should listen to the opinion of other person without interrupting in between, once he has completed the counter points may be raised but first one has to ensure that he has understood the opinion in all respect. During discussions never let any negative thing come to your mind. He further added that self-confidence holds the key to success and whenever you feel confused or in problem seek help for other. He also focused on importance of peer learning and its importance in life.

Speaking on the success and failures of organizations he said right people for the right job is one of the most fundamental and most violated norm of business. For success of any organization it is crucially important that people with right kind of desired skills are assigned the right kind of job. Together people will design the system and an efficient system will ensure success. He added that people are the biggest asset for any leader or an organization.
Speaking on the role of internet and its impact on business he added that new age organizations like Amazon, Netflix, Uber etc have grown from nowhere to fortunes in one decade only. Good leader should be able to visualize the future like Steve Jobs visualized that every office desk will have a computer or Uber visualized that how they can match driver with passengers with min hassles.

He further added that lot of organizations fail not because of poor strategy but because of poor execution. He added that 80% of energy of leaders should go into execution and execution only. He also provided a guideline for successful execution which starts with a clearly defined goal, clarity of goal is most critical here as choosing wrong goal might lead to failure. Once the goal has been decided now come the strategy part wherein one has to define the critical tasks and each task a Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) is identified and accordingly the Key Performance Indicators are defined. In today’s time another important factor is transparency of systems within the organization wherein technology can be leveraged in for of Dash Boards to ensure free flow and ease of access to information.

Jaipurian Yash Mathur has his first job take him across the world. Here’s his take on how PGDM helped him make it through the Dubai based Manufacturing company.

21 years in Ajmer and then 2 years in Jaipur- Yash Mathur of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur is few months away from flashing his passport at the immigration and say “hello!” to a new country altogether. “I was informed of my selection right after I completed my rounds of personal interview but I was not strictly instructed to not disclose till it’s officially announced. I cannot possibly explain the feeling. When the news was finally announced, I remember I felt proud in a way I never felt before,” says Yash on being placed with Dubai based manufacturing company- Indicaa Group Limited.

Yash completed his summer internship with Reliance Retail Ltd. and his work needed him to have people’s skill. He was interacting daily with Reliance users and surveying them on researched questionnaires. He had to talk his way out, engage his clients and get the job done and during his final placement interview with Indicaa Group, these skills came extremely handy for the Ajmer boy.

“In my last two years at Jaipuria, I learnt the importance of punctuality, professionalism, good communication skills, stress management and time management. I actually saw them coming handy in every stage of the selection process,” says Yash while explaining the role a PGDM education played in his life. So what did Yash do right in his interview that Indicaa selected him at a handsome pay package to help him with a perfect start to his career?

“I kept a smiling face and stayed honest throughout. Whatever, I was asked- I replied with truth and honesty. They asked me how I will adjust overseas when I have never even stepped out of Rajasthan my entire life? And I said- if given a chance, who would not want to explore new culture and new places and try to adjust,” reflects Yash.

With a specialisation in Marketing Operations and a job that is meant around Manufacturing and procuring metal for the company from across the world, Yash Mathur of Jaipuria, Jaipur’s PGDM Class 2019 is all set to create an indelible impression at workplace and dedicate the coming ten years to fulfill the dreams of his parents.

All set to start with Deloitte as a Tax Consultant- Pankaj of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore talks of his final placement and friendship.

“It is unbelievable the kind of friendship I experienced these two years of my PGDM in Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore,” says A. Pankaj Rao who was welcomed with beats of dhol by his friends when he got back to campus after cracking the placements with Deloitte. “When you are attending B-school miles away from home and got limited pocket money to spend, you understand the value of teamwork and friendship,” adds Pankaj nostalgically as he is all set to start his journey with the Fortune 500 Company in few days.

Pankaj was asked a very interesting situation question during his interview- “imagine a situation where you have been allotted multiple tasks by two of your superiors. Which would you choose and why?” The Jabalpur boy gave it few seconds and replied- “I would use my discretion to understand the priority and get the tasks wrapped accordingly.” The panel from Deloitte took heed. And with 6 other colleagues of Pankaj waiting their turn to be selected, Pankaj got the offer to become the next Tax Consultant of the company.

His job would primarily revolve around- filing tax returns for clients, developing healthy relationship with clients and communicating information within various departments and Pankaj feels quite ready to garb on his new role. “I have always been enamored by the adroitness of Mr. Vincent Thomas, our Training Associate at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore who dedicatedly helped us during the whole placement process. His communication skills and ability to multi-task are few skills I want to imbibe in myself,” exclaims Pankaj when asked about that one person who touched his life professionally in last 2 years of PGDM.

7th September, 2018 shall stay close to Pankaj’s heart. He was sitting in the auditorium waiting for the senior Management of Deloitte to declare the results. Something in Pankaj’s heart knew he has made it but he needed to hear it. And his name was announced. “The remaining is blur in my head. I remember hugging my elder brother tight and calling my mother home with tears of joy rolling down my eyes,” explains Pankaj.

With newer responsibilities awaiting him at Deloitte, what is the man going to miss the most about Jaipuria, Indore? “The people I met here and the friendship we forged,” were his parting remarks.

“The experience came extremely handy,” exclaims the Aritra Mukherjee, PGDM Class 2019 who is all set to join the Amazon at a package of ₹ 16.05 lac p.a

Aritra of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow was spending his summer 2018 at Vizag with Drona Maps. The organization does city-scale 3D mapping using UAVs, delivering centi-meter scale resolution across the board and Aritra’s internship familiarized him with drones and advanced technology. “During the Amazon interview, the experience came extremely handy,” exclaims the young man who is all set to join the leading e-commerce portal at a package of 16.05 lac p.a.

“No, seriously when I had joined Jaipuria Institute of Management, I had no idea my career would come this far. Like all other aspiring professionals, I secretly dreamt of starting big but I did not imagine it to start this well,” says Aritra while readying himself for a conversation with the Media Committee of the institute.

He was enjoying an ice-cream when the news of his selection with Amazon arrived. Of course he could not believe it at first even though he knew he had given his best in front of the interview panel- however, with a top organization like Amazon, it is always hard to predict. Adding to that, 80 students applied for placements with Amazon. “Plus, the personal interview rounds were tedious and never ending. I attended four rounds,” recalls Aritra who has been actively involved in debate and mock youth parliament sessions. “I always thought I speak well but what came to my real rescue was my ability to act and think like a manager,” adds the man who is now all set to handle a team under him at Amazon. He was asked- “why should Amazon not hire you? Why did you not go overseas to study MBA?” and his answers got him selected!

Jaipuria Institute of Management ensures that each student is trained to locate his/her ability and then convert it to strength. The PGDM curriculum of Jaipuria Institute of Management is dotted with rigorous case study modules, international immersion programmes, workshops, conclaves, industry interactions, summer internship opportunities and live projects. Students like Aritra do not just gain from the edge of the B-school’s pedagogy but also take the leverage of various student clubs, committees and platforms to aide leadership skills from day one at campus

Ayush of Jaipuria Institute, Noida is graduating with a job in Dubai at renowned supply chain & logistics company- Zen Global DMCC and a package of ₹ 18 lacs. p.a.

For Ayush Mishra of Jaipuria, Noida, the next few years of life is going to be about hard work, followed by spending evenings and weekends at Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, Ferrari World, Atlantic, so on and so forth. After all, he has received his job offer all the way from Middle East’s renowned supply chain and logistics company- Zen Global DMCC.

The moment when the news arrived
“It was 15th October and I was attending my Inventory Management class. It was around 2:30 p.m. when a UAE number flashed on my mobile screen. I could feel my heart thumping inside me. I excused myself from class to receive the call and as soon as I took the phone close to my ear, a voice from the other side asked- ‘Am I speaking to Mr. Ayush Mishra?’ Even before I could reply, arrived the news- ‘I am calling from Zen Global DMCC and I wish to inform you that we are willing to provide you the employment with us at 18 lacs p.a. Is it fine with you?’ My joy knew no bounds,” narrates Ayush while explaining how it felt on first hearing about his new job offer.

The Varanasi boy- his stumbling blocks and his wins

Before Ayush sat for the interview with Zen Global DMCC, he had applied at SRF Ltd.- a manufacturing company located in Gurgaon. The competition was fierce. There were applicants from all across India but Ayush managed to sail through easily till the final round arrived. “After 35 minutes of intense questioning, the panelists asked me- ‘what are your ethics in life?’ and I replied almost instantaneously- ‘I cannot be dishonest to anyone’. After that I was asked to handle a situation where after a point in time, the situation demanded me to lie. I did. And they immediately pointed out- ‘yes, you are caught! You just lied.’

Of course, Ayush could not make it to SRF Ltd. but his win was- the lesson he brought back home from the incident. “Next time I am asked this question again, I will draw the answer from my strengths,” says Ayush smilingly.

What acted in favor during the Zen Global DMCC interview?
Ayush’s interview panel had the Marketing Head and the Operations Head asking him various questions and testing his domain knowledge, especially in Logistics Management. “Luckily, just the day before my interview with Zen Global, I had my end term examination on Logistics Management. Therefore, it almost became a cakewalk and I had the answers ready on the tip of my tongue,” says the Varansi born boy who is set to leave for Dubai to join Zen Global on 15th December, 2018.

As of now, Ayush will be trained about procurement and supply chain of the company and during these 3 months of training, he would be shifted across departments for gaining from the holistic understanding of the organization and its functions.

So, what will Ayush miss the most about his Jaipuria life?
“My friends, my hostel life and of course, my girl friend. They stood by me no matter the circumstances and it would be difficult without them,” says Ayush while concluding the conversation.
